Does she have chicken pox?

Kevin asked me early last week if I thought that we should go camping over Memorial Day weekend. I was torn because I wanted to go, but didn't really feel like getting everything ready. Eventually we decided that we would go. It made it a lot easier to get ready because Mom and Dad let us use their camper. We headed up to Miller Dam Friday after Kevin was finished with work. Thankfully one of his friends from work had gone up earlier that day or we wouldn't have had a site to camp in. It seems like we got everything set up in record time. (I guess I should say Kevin did that since I was watching Keltie.)

As soon as we got out of the truck the mosquitos started in on us. Unfortaunately, we forgot to bring Keltie's bug net along so we knew it was going to be porblem. She was an absoulte trooper Friday night. She sat and played by herself and even tasted the dirt. That would come back to bite us later since she was up for a couple hours Friday night and even threw up. I don't know what was in the dirt.

She woke up Saturday morning and it looked like she had the chicken pox. She had so many bites on her face and hands. It was so cute, but yet we felt like awful parents. Lucikly, she doesn't really realize that she has them so she wasn't itching them. I walked her around in the stroller and a little boy was riding his bike alongside me and asked if she had the chicken pox? All weekend long that's what we heard. She was good girl about it though. Saturday we went to visit her cousins who were camping near us. It was neat to see all the girls together. Keltie loved looking at the frogs and even took a little swim with them (on accident of course).

On Sunday we got visits from my parents, Kevin's parents and Kevin's aunt, uncle and cousins. It was great to see all of them. They are usually camping right alongside of us so it was nice that they were able to visit. We took Keltie down to the beach and let her play in the sand. She loved it! She is really learning to notice things now. Everytime she saw a dog over the weekend, she would point at in and wave. She is coming really close to saying the word hi so everytime she waved she would yell "hiiii." It was just so sweet.

We came home early yesterday to get some things done around the house. Of course we had like four loads of laundry to do. Of course, the neighbors picked yesterday to spread manure. Oh well, that's country living. We can't wait to do a lot more camping this summer.

My attempt to get a close up of her "chicken pox."

Little Lady

Our little girl is truly growing up. These are just some candid shots this morning. It's much more difficult to take her picture now that she is walking since she doesn't want to stay in one place anymore. We are so thankful for her. As I drove her into daycare today I couldn't help but smile. We were jamming a way to her music and she just had such a big smile on her face. I hope she brings a smile to your face as well. Enjoy!

Walking

We can now officially say that Keltie is walking. She has been doing this for quite awhile already, but we never considered it her main mode of transportation until now. She is walking all over the place. I took her to my spring concert last week at church and she was a ham. She was walking up the center aisle and would stop and look back at me and wave. She would move further a little bit more and then start dancing. Needless to say, I don't think any of the kids were focused on the concert.

Last night after her bath she was carrying around a little plastic bucket and making laps around the recliner.

Outside Dining

We put our deck on our house last summer and loved it. This year we decided we needed to put a railing on it so that Keltie could go out there and play. Kevin was able to get it finished over the weekend and got the baby gate done yesterday. Now we know that Keltie can go out and play and if we need to run quick inside to get something, she will be safe. We enjoyed out first meal out there with many more to follow. Thanks for working so hard on it Kevin.

Busted!

Keltie's new favorite thing to do is to pull things off of shelves onto the floor. She then just likes to look at them on the floor. She did this the other day with Mom's cookbooks and has done it a couple of times with her bookshelf. On Sunday I was putting things away in the kitchen and Keltie was playing in her room. I went back to check on her and this is what I found.
Of course after she had pulled them off of the shelf she wanted me to read them to her. She would bring one to me. I would start to read it and then she would want a different one. I guess she's a girl after my own heart. Her book shelf at home is almost as full as mine at school. What did I bring home to her yesterday? You guessed it, more books!

We're Going to the Zoo!

On Sunday, we took Keltie to the Marshfield Zoo. It was a beautiful day to go. As we were walking around with her it was hard to tell who was more excited about it. I think in the end we were more excited to show her the animals then she was to actually see them. It seemed it was that way for the majority of the people there as well.Daddy and Keltie looking for the mountain lion. He was out, but you can't really see him.

Waving to the sandhill cranes. Anytime she saw an animal she had to wave at it. The most excitement was when we saw all the prairie dogs. She was waving and giggling at them.

What's a trip to the zoo without a stop at the playground?

I'm not sure how much Keltie actually got out of this trip, but it was still fun. We have a wedding in June by Milwaukee so we are going to take her to the zoo then. Hopefully, she will be able to see more and get a bigger kick out of it then. If not, at least Mama and Daddy will have fun!

Ready for Camping!

I think we are like everyone else when we say that we are ready for summer and camping. I know that it's going to be much different this year with Keltie than it was last year, but we are ready for it. Do you think she's ready?

Long Overdue

We were finally able to celebrate Keltie's first birthday on Friday. We were going to have it a long time ago, but everyone had such busy schedules. It was well worth the wait though. We decided just to have cupcakes and ice cream this time, since I didn't want to make all the food again. She was such a good girl for her party. I was a little bit concerned because we couldn't have everyone over until 7:00 and she's usually in bed by 8:00. I thought that we might have a little grouch on her hands, but she was such a perfect little girl. She did go to bed later than usual, but fell asleep all on her own even with all the noise. She enjoyed every minute of her party as did we. She is just growing up way to fast. Here's some of the pictures from her party.

Boompa and Grammy brought her a whole shoe box full of change. This money is eventually going to be used to build her swing set. She had so much fun putting the money into her piggy bank. She will have hours of fun with this. (Notice the dress, it was her Easter dress that my mom made.) Since she was sick for Easter she didn't get to wear it. We had it to double duty for her party. Look at that smile!

"Here's my new cell phone. I can't wait to use it. Who should I call first?"

Here Keltie is in her birthday bib. Unfortunately, she was too excited about the cows outside the window and so she wouldn't look directly at me. The cows are her new fascination. She is constantly looking out the windows to see if they are there. It's so cute to watch because she'll sit and wave at them.

Here she is with her cake and ice cream. This wasn't the typical first experience with these things because she had already had them since we didn't have her birthday party on her actual date. She was still very excited to have all the attention focused on her. When we sang to her she had to make sure that all eyes were on her.

Happy Belated Birthday Sweetie! We hope that you enjoyed your day. Thank you to everyone who came. We had a lot of fun.

Turkey Hunting 2009

These should have been posted awhile ago, but I forgot that it was on my camera. Kevin was busy getting ready for turkey hunting one night, and Keltie and I decided that we should help. She loves to look at Kevin's turkey fans on the walls and is constantly pointing to them. She even tries to make the sound of a turkey. Kevin will do it and she will try to repeat it. All she can really do is shake her head like he does, but can't actually make the sound. He does have a box turkey call (I think that's what it's called) and she does a really good job of moving it to make it sound like a real turkey. One night I was talking to her Papa on the phone and was telling him that she was doing the background noise and he couldn't believe it. He thought that it was actually Kevin doing it.

Here she is helping Daddy get ready for the big hunt.Keltie are you in there?Mama and Daddy, this isn't funny anymore. Please help me!

Belated Birthday Party!

We are finally having Keltie's first birthday party tonight as long as everything goes according to plan. Unfortunately, she did have to get her shots last night and her babysitter just called and said that she's running a little bit of a fever. I'm sure that it is all connected to the shots so I'm not too worried. That's why I am so skeptical of her getting shots, but that's another story. I will hopefully have pictures to post next week of her with her cake and presents.
